GALA BENEFIT CONCERT FEATURES

FIVE BIG BANDS, LOTS OF SURPRISES:

PROCEEDS TO AID FYN STEC & FAMILY FUND

Five of the most original and exciting bands on the Los Angeles underground music scene will join forces for an evening of high stakes entertainment, Sunday, April 30th at the Southland's premier nightspot, Mr. T's Bowl, 5621 N. Figueroa St. in scenic Highland Park.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Fyn Stec & Family fund. Four-year-old Fyn, the son of Paul and Dayla Stec, was recently diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer and is currently undergoing treatment at Children's Hospital.

Gathering for what promises to be the musical event of the season will be such critically acclaimed breakout bands as Listing Ship, Death House Chaplain, Monolators and 8-Bit. The concert will also feature the much-anticipated reunion of Emm't Swank, one of the most influential L.A. bands of the late Nineties.

Featured as a Spin Magazine Band of The Day, Listing Ship's most recent release, Time To Dream, highlighting the track 'Baise Ca,' has been heard on KCRW's Morning Become Eclectic and been dubbed by the L.A. Weekly 'faded folk unfolding from a slightly bizarre version of lo-fi house on the prairie.'

Death House Chaplain, currently completing tracks for a Sony Records development deal, has elicited ecstatic comparisons to Television, The Cure, The Who and others. Wavering into the realm of Math-Rock, the trio has earned rave reviews for such standout live favorites as 'Shock And Awe,' 'San Diego' and 'Helping Hand.'

Dork Rock duo The Monolators have recently played on KXLU's legendary 'Demolisten' where they performed new tracks from their forth coming album, 'Our Tears Have Wings.' Tracks from their last album, 'Rejection Set Me Free', received radio play on KCRW's Weekend Becomes Eclectic, KXLU, and Indie 103.1.

Performance rock legends 8-Bit,who have been described as 'a robotic old school Nintendo rap crew,' had their remix 'ghettochipmalfunction' as a featured track on Beck's new album 'Guerolito.' They were also recently named one of the best bands in Silverlake by Spin magazine.

'Porn Industry,' 'My Lover's Gay,' and 'Bigger Than Mine' are only a few of the original tracks that made Emm't Swank one of the most dominant undiscovered groups in recent Southland musical history. Cited as a prime influence and inspiration for countless young bands, the group released such groundbreaking CD's as Coffee and Leather, and was a regular fixture on the club scene in the final years of the late millennium. Their appearance at Mr. T's marks a long overdue reunion for the pioneering post-post-punk quintet.

Kicking off at 6:00PM, the Fyn Stec & Family Benefit concert will also feature the virtuoso talents of Cosmo Segurson and His Mighty Wurlitzer along with special surprise guests.
